Out of 79 pinoy mathletes that joined the 2019 Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge in Singapore, July 6-9, 2019, Three Santa Rosa mathletes contributes 2 golds and one silver medals out of 8 Golds and 19 Silver medals the Philippines got, out from a total of 55 medals for Math Olympiad.
One teacher from SDO Santa Rosa City sir Digs C. Salamat out of Twenty-four math teachers as companions attended seminars that not only honed their teaching skills, but also gave them tips on how to become creative teachers in order to influence more students to think and enjoy mathematics.
Elean R. Almazan tried once again for an International mathematics competition his last competition was when he was in Grade 6 for the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) wherein he got a Bronze Medal, the host country then was Philippines and it was held in Tagaytay City. And in his comeback for the 2019 Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC) he got a Gold Medal.
Elean R. Almazan (Holy Rosary College) and John Benedict M. Sanico (Santa Rosa Science and Technology High School) both got Gold in Math Olympiad while Rainier Matthew L. Rodenas got Silver Medal in Math Olympiad and it’s a rare opportunity for Johann Paulo R. Campos (Chair of St. Peter School) a grade 2 pupil being part of the Philippine Team though he was not able to succeed he got more friends from different countries.
The team work hard in order for each of them to bring home honor to our Schools Division and City at the same time.
Every year these children competes in international competition, the support of the city government is always felt. They were there to finance their travel. Through Mayor Danilo Ramon S. Fernandez now the Representative of the lone district of Santa Rosa and the then Representative now Mayor Arlene B. Arcillas, of course our SDS Helen A. Ramos, ASDS Rogelio F. Opulencia, and the whole family of SDO Santa Rosa City.
SDO Santa Rosa City is indeed very happy and proud for the achievements of these kids, their achievement is not only theirs but for their schools, the division, the city, the region, the department of education but of the country.
